Strength and conditioning coach Mike Henriques was reinstated after a two-week suspension for secretly positioning the camera, apparently so he could monitor players on the disabled list while the team was on the road.
Doolittle said he appreciated the A’s hired an independent firm to conduct an investigation, the results of which were relayed to the players Monday.
“In the end, the front office and all the higher-ups in management decided that based on the findings, it was a really, really bad mistake, something that was well-intentioned but very, very poorly executed,” Doolittle said. “They felt the two-week suspension was good, and now we’re trying to move forward.”
An A’s player spotted the camera and told Doolittle, who informed the players’ union. The A’s sent Henriques home from the trip and suspended him. He met with some players, apologized and, according to Doolittle, is working on mending relationships.
Doolittle was asked if the players were OK with the A’s returning Henriques to his post.
“Whether or not players are in agreement with it - I won’t speculate how many are or aren’t - one thing everybody’s in agreement with is we’re going to move forward from this and work together as a group on repairing some of that trust that was damaged,” Doolittle said.
“Whether players agree or disagree with the ruling, that doesn’t really matter. What matters is being professional and working on repairing those relationships and moving forward together.”
Henriques declined comment.

Briefly: Jharel Cotton, acquired in the trade that sent Rich Hill and Josh Reddick to the Dodgers, improved his chances of making the big leagues this year by pitching 8 2/3 perfect innings for Triple-A Nashville. With two outs in the ninth, he gave up a triple. “He definitely opened some eyes,” manager Bob Melvin said. “It wouldn’t surprise me if some time this year we see him.” … Doolittle (shoulder strain) will throw off a mound Thursday and would throw to hitters once or twice before beginning a rehab assignment. Melvin said Doolittle could be activated before the end of the month.
