WHAT GOD HAS YOKED TOGETHER, LET TV VIEWING NOT PUT APART

What God has yoked together let TV viewing not put apart.I went to visit this elderly couple. The wife was sick and the husband was the care giver. They were very happy to see me after a very long time.We had a good time discussing so many things generally, then the issue of TV viewing came up.
The wife was furious, she feels that the husband suppose to understand that she needs to watch all the channels she enjoys ,so as to cope with her sickness. As soon as the husband mentions that he allows her to watch, the argument became intense:
Wife: “When did you allow me to watch?Which day?”
Husband:”Sis(referring to yours truly) don’t mind her oh!This is how she will hijack the remote and continue watching from ZEE World to Telemundo the whole day but as soon as I say let me watch, she will pick offence.”
Wife: Don’t mind him oh!Is it when you are switching from CNN to Aljazeera, back to Nigerian news and then football that you allowed me to watch?
Husband: “We know women as those who eat and deny right from the word go,that’s why you women do not grow beards,so the folklore has it,I wasn’t the one that said so oh!”
Wife: “Just admit you are wrong but that’s the last thing you will ever do.”
It was hilarious watching the whole drama. So I tried to proffer a solution. I suggested they share the viewing time,If ZEE World or Telemundo starts a new episode between 3 – 6pm let her watch.Afterwards let the News take over.
It reminded me of what happened in my house some years ago.I was watching this movie.you know that climax moment you are so engrossed in the movie, holding your breath to see what happens next and someone just picks the remote and switches the TV off and says “let us pray”, and it wasn’t even bed time.My Gush! Say what? My dear am not sure I heard what was said in the prayer that night. After the prayer,my husband switched the TV to Channels news.Uptill today I don’t know how the movie ended.
My anger wasn’t the prayer but the manner everything happened. What about” please we want to pray” and I’ll be like “okay give me 5minutes or alright then I will switch it off myself”.Anyway, we discussed it and he was sorry,he admitted his approach was wrong. We resolved it and it hasn’t happened again,we respect each others preferences. But what if he claimed right?Well, your guess is as good as mine.
This TV viewing matter is like that in many homes, though other ones I have witnessed were younger couples but this elder grandparents left me laughing so hard.Well, I do hope they will find a way around it in love.
I think it is OK to disagree on something sometimes, what do you think?
